Hundreds of flood warnings remain in force after Storm Henk swept across the UK leaving a path of disruption,
There are 271 flood warnings and 293 flood warnings across the UK today, as heavy rain is expected to cause further chaos.
The Met Office has issued a yellow rain warning across southern England until 3am tomorrow, and there is a high possibility of flooding, delays and travel cancellations.
Met Office Chief Meteorologist Matthew Lehnert said: “The track of the heavy rainfall remains uncertain, but there is a chance of 20 to 30 mm of rain falling over a period of 6 to 9 hours for part of the warning area, with some places seeing… “. As much as 40-50 mm.
“Much of this rain is falling on already wet ground, so impacts are more likely. Meanwhile, a stalled weather front will continue to bring showers and rain across the Northeast.”
Meanwhile, a driver in his 50s was killed when a tree fell on his car near Kemble, Gloucestershire, during Storm Henk on Tuesday afternoon.
A yellow rain warning is in place
The Met Office has issued a yellow rain warning, as further heavy rain is expected to cause disruption across southern England.
More rain is set to fall on saturated ground, which will likely lead to further flooding, travel disruption and power outages.

ICYMI – A motorist was killed by a falling tree while evacuating homes after flooding from Storm Henk
A motorist was killed by a falling tree yesterday as 90mph winds hit the Isle of Wight, and homes were evacuated, after Storm Henk caused flooding and disruption.
Gloucestershire Police said a man in his 50s died while driving near Kemble. More than 200 flood warnings remained in force on Wednesday, with severe flooding in holiday parks near Tenby, south-west Wales and Northampton.
Speaking about the car’s driver, a Gloucestershire Police spokesperson said: “Emergency services, including an air ambulance, attended the site between Tetbury and Cirencester.
“Despite the efforts of those at the scene, a man in his 50s and from the Bath area has died. His next of kin and the coroner have been informed.
“The road remains closed as recovery and investigation work continues and motorists are being asked to find alternative routes.”

Drone footage shows holiday homes submerged in water
Residents have been evacuated from their homes in Northamptonshire due to flooding caused by Storm Henk.
A flood warning has been put in place for the River Nene at Billing Aquadrome, and drone footage shows hundreds of flooded holiday homes.
While the severe warning level was downgraded on Wednesday (January 3), the Environment Agency said flooding was still expected in the area over the coming days.
Fire and rescue teams were seen wading through floodwaters at the site to evacuate the residents of the buoy in a rubber boat, after the path connecting the boats to the beach was submerged.
Robert Britchford, one of several residents evacuated from caravans at the site, estimated that about 2,000 people had to leave their properties on Tuesday afternoon.

A new British Army Apache helicopter explodes
The British Army's newest Apache helicopter crashed due to strong winds when Storm Henk hit parts of southern Britain on Tuesday.
The Apache AH-64E attack helicopter, which could cost around £412 million, was pictured lying on its side next to emergency workers and a fire engine at an airfield in Middle Wallop, Hampshire.
It is known that no one was injured during the accident, and that all other aircraft were not damaged. In October, the aircraft was declared “ready for front-line mission.”

The Met Office says weather patterns are changing with drier weather expected
Drier, calmer and cooler weather is on its way for the weekend, the Met Office said.
“Weather patterns are changing. Drier, calmer and cooler weather is also on the way through the weekend and beyond,” the X forecaster said.
This comes after a yellow warning for rain issued by the Met Office in southern England on Thursday and Friday, with the possibility of power outages and flooding of homes.

Nearly 2,400 homes are without electricity
Nearly 2,400 homes were without power, according to the Energy Networks Association, which represents UK energy network operators.
This means that 7,600 people have been reconnected since the association's last update at 7am this morning.
Since the start of the disruption caused by Storm Henk, electricity has been restored to more than 170,200 homes, the Cyprus News Agency said.
Ross Easton of the European News Agency said that the power outage was the result of debris carried by strong winds, causing severe damage to power lines.

A family were left terrified when Storm Henk hit the London Eye and blew off part of the roof of their room on Tuesday, January 2.
David Nock and 11 family members, including five children between the ages of 11 and 15, were at 400 feet when a service hatch was torn apart by high winds.
The access hatch was left dangling by metal wires while the chamber on the wheel rotated its way down.
Mr Nock and his family watched as maintenance crew tried to repair the broken capsule, describing the whole experience as “terrifying”.
The famous tourist attraction was later closed “due to adverse weather conditions.”
“The noise was absolutely deafening, it was a bit of a terrifying experience. The children all found it terrifying,” Mr Nock said.
