WVTM 13 meteorologists declared Tuesday an emotional day. Precipitation: 1 to 2 inches of rain will fall Monday through Tuesday across most of north and central Alabama. Heavier bands are possible in the southern half of the state, and that could mean up to 4 inches in spots. Wind gusts: Occasional wind gusts unrelated to thunderstorms that may exceed 40 miles per hour. In gusts, it can be higher than 60 mph. Extreme threat? There is a risk of some severe storms south of Interstate 20 mainly late Monday night into Tuesday. The details of this threat aren't clear, so for now, just be aware of the possibility of some severe weather. None of these rounds of wet and windy weather over the next week appear to have winter weather potential. Alabama will be on the warmer side of them all for at least the next week; However, some flurries or snow showers would not be out of the question after Tuesday's storm system. For snow lovers, this is the kind of pattern you want to see.
