Founded in 1868, IWC Schaffhausen has a long history of producing iconic pilot's watches and aviation watches. Their latest release is no different. The new collection, dedicated to IWC partner Mercedes-AMG, comprises four watches, including today's spotlight watch: the IW388306 Pilot's Performance Chronograph 41. The certanium IW388306 pays special tribute to the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 team, led by British drivers Lewis Hamilton. And George Russell.
So, let's take a look at this amazing chronograph.
As mentioned above, this watch is housed in IWC's Ceratanium case, a special material designed to be as light as titanium while maintaining the scratch resistance of ceramic cases. It comes in IWC Certanium, created by Pantone for IWC. It's not full black but is more subtle, matte and cleaner, giving beautiful depth to the glossy black dial that adorns the 41mm watch.
While you're on the move, the watch sports a black rubber strap with IWC's EasX-CHANGE system, which allows you to change its strap with the simple click of a button. However, if you are a fan of comfortable clothing and love elastic straps, you will keep these shoes.
Additional things we like about this IWC watch is the open caseback, which has arched text running around it with the watch title at the top and bottom. Also worth noting is the tachometer bezel that was initially used by pilots and race car drivers.
Wear it
The subtle and sophisticated look of this watch goes well with sportswear, simple black T-shirts and stylish black half-zip jackets.
