On Sunday night, the band performed their song “American Idiot” during an appearance on Dick Clark's “Rockin' Eve's New Year's Show.”
That's right, the Rebel rockers are now performing for “Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve.”
During the song, lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong says, “I'm not part of the MAGA agenda,” instead of the original line, “I'm not part of the redneck agenda.”
Green Day has a history of being politically outspoken and expressing particular venom against conservatives.

Musk mocks Green Day
Musk got involved in the discussion by responding to a post comparing Green Day to the popular Steve Buscemi meme “How are you kiddos?”
“Green Day goes from being angry against the machine to being angry for it,” he joked.
Others were equally unimpressed with the 50-plus “musicians” trying to lecture them about the pro-American agenda.

“It must be sad to be in your 50s, still trying to act like you're 24, and hoping spouting political bullshit that only pleases the corporate establishment will make you look like a rebel,” one viewer wrote.
I mean you have to give them credit: they did well past their usual bedtime!

They've been liberal for a long time
It would be easy to point out that Armstrong is a high school dropout in California, which does not place much importance on secondary education in the first place.
But it is interesting to note that “American Idiot” itself is an anthem of opposition to the unnecessary wars (Iraq) driven by the media coverage supporting them.
Today, the “MAGA agenda” that Armstrong is attacking is perhaps the only political coalition opposed to unnecessary wars around the world, especially funding the wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, and they are the only opposition to the legacy media.
Billy, there's common ground there, brother. Instead, he simply spreads talking points in the liberal media like a good little Democratic shill. sad!
In a 2016 interview, Armstrong compared Trump to Adolf Hitler, which is considered edgy among left-wing circles. Uneducated, but motivated.
“I don't even know how to explain it. I wish I was exaggerating. And sometimes I might be exaggerating with Bush.” “But with Trump, I can't wait until he's gone.”
In other words, Bush was Green Day's Hitler once, but Trump is actually Hitler now. I wonder who the next Republican president will be compared to. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say…Hitler.
Armstrong feels particular disdain for Trump supporters who, in his view, are too stupid and poor to realize what's good for them.
“The worst problem I see with Trump is who his followers are,” Armstrong said. “I actually feel bad for them because they are poor, working-class people who can't stand on their own two feet. They're just angry, and he's a prey to their anger.”
Has this simpleton ever looked at his crowds? 90% of Green Day's performance involves white, poor, uneducated high school dropouts like him donating their money to a band that exploits their anger.
Armstrong didn't want to be an American fool. Unfortunately for him, he is the very definition.
It's time to support and share the sources you trust.
