Hollywood actor Jeremy Renner said he has “a lot of things to live for” as he details his recovery one year after a snowfall accident that nearly killed him.
The 52-year-old Avengers actor broke more than 30 bones and underwent multiple operations after he was 17 years old. He was accidentally run over by a six-ton snowplow While trying to help his nephew on January 1, 2023.
Discuss his recovery Renner “I'm very lucky because I have a lot of things to live for,” she told CNN.
“I have a big family, I have a 10-year-old daughter. I would have been disappointed and ruined a lot of people's lives if I had died, so there's a lot to improve on.”
Renner, who plays Hawkeye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, described himself as “very stubborn” and said his recovery “was just a one-way street in my mind.”
He said his “poor nephew” Alexander Fries, who witnessed the accident, had “photos he could never hide.”
“I know my healing will be his healing,” Renner added.
“However, I never thought about my physical ailments, my pain, or my suffering.
“I had a lot of things to fight for, so the one-way road to recovery was my mental attitude, and that attitude was always to get better. There's no other option but that.”
A police report said Mr. Fries was trying to free his car from the snow when the plow began rolling down the hill.
Renner was airlifted to a hospital in Reno, Nevada, and spent some time in the intensive care unit.

Last week, the star returned to the hospital where he was treated after the accident, writing on Instagram: “Stop by to see the kids/superheroes, first responders, doctors, nurses and staff at Renon Hospital.
“I pay my respects and celebrate the love, life and blessings he brings to us all.
“Thank you and this community for keeping me here. I owe you an eternal debt of gratitude.”
