Doha: Yesterday, the Ministry of Culture organized a workshop for the working group to prepare a strategy for national identity, cultural enrichment and sports excellence, which was launched as part of the third national development strategy.
The team includes 32 active partners in the cultural, sports and educational fields, including the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Qatar Museums, Qatar Media Corporation, and Qatar University. , Qatar Olympic Committee, and Aspire, among others.
The workshop will continue until Thursday and will discuss four themes: national identity, culture, media, sports and youth.
The workshop began with a review of the founding paper for the national identity prepared by the work team and reviewed by a number of experts, specialists and thinkers interested in the issue of national identity.
The work team identified the strategic results that must be reached by the end of the strategy period, in line with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.
The workshop discussed enhancing the sense of belonging to the State of Qatar and the Arabic language, establishing awareness and participation in the rich cultural heritage, as well as enhancing interest in tangible cultural heritage.
Amna Al-Buainain, Director of the Planning, Quality and Innovation Department at the Ministry of Culture, said in an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the workshop presented the founding document for the national identity, which aims to unify strategic directions and set procedural procedures. Concepts to focus and work on the explicit and implicit elements of national identity.
Regarding the outputs of the workshop, Al-Buainain explained that the workshop is suitable for gathering participants to determine the strategic direction of national identity, media and culture, in addition to coming up with results, goals and performance. Indicators, to help measure future change and initiative groups.
For her part, Head of the Strategic Planning Department at the Ministry of Culture, Latifa Al-Kuwari, said in a similar statement to Qatar News Agency that today’s workshop is the first workshop of the third national development strategy, which began with the identity axis being the focus, followed by the culture axis and then the media development axis accordingly. To this end, a group of cooperating partners was invited to attend the workshop, and the number of participants reached 70 people, noting that the workshop aims to come up with results, goals and projects that fall within the third national development strategy.
