    Men’s basketball
    The Vikings will be on the road to wrap up regular season play this week, as they travel to Green Bay on Thursday, February 23 and Milwaukee on Saturday, February 25.
    – Cleveland State went 2-0 in their final regular season home run last week, claiming wins over Wright State and Northern Kentucky.
    – With their win last time out, the Vikings shut out a home game in the Horizon League Quarterfinals on Thursday, March 2.

    Women’s basketball
    – Cleveland State will wrap up the regular season on the road this week, traveling to Green Bay for the deciding #HLWBB game on Thursday, February 23 with the regular season finale in Milwaukee on Saturday, February 25.
    – Last time out, the Vikings went 3-0 on the week, and had wins at Purdue Fort Wayne, against Northern Kentucky and over Wright State.
    Going into the final week of the league, the Vikings are tied with Green Bay for the lead in the league standings with a 16-2 record in the league, while Cleveland State is 26-3 overall this season.

    – Cleveland State will wrap up its indoor campaign at the 2023 #HLTF Indoor Championships this weekend, with action taking place Saturday, February 25th and Sunday, February 26th in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
    – This weekend’s #HLTF Championships will be the eighth event of the Vikings’ indoor season.

    Fence
    Cleveland State will be back in action for the Central Collegiate Fencing Championships this weekend, with games Saturday, February 25 and Sunday, February 26.

    wrestling
    Cleveland State will be getting a break from competition this week, and will return to action in the MAC tournament on Friday, March 3, and Saturday, March 4.
    The Vikings finished the regular season with a 7-8 overall record and a 6-4 mark in MAC action.
    Marcus Robinson and DeAndre Nassar won their matches against Ryder and Drexel last time out to lead the Vikings.

    Swimming and diving
    – The Vikings finished in action in the #HLSD Championship last time around, with the men finishing third and the women finishing fifth.
    Cleveland State will be in action next for the CSCAA National Invitational Tournament on March 9-11.
    – Jackson Nester repeated as the Horizon League champion in the 400 IM after breaking his school record with an NCAA B-Cut time of 3:48.34 to earn First Team honors, while Buddy Johnston earned second team honors in the 100 Fly, 100 Back, and 200 Fly. In addition, Nathen Eberhardt, Connor Green, Jackson Nester and Spencer Tussing took second team honors at the 800 Free Relay.
    On the women’s side, Ana Sofia Sousa scored second in the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle events, taking second team prizes in both events.

    Men’s tennis
    – The Vikings will continue their current seven-game streak this weekend, traveling to Chicago, Illinois to take on DePaul and Eastern Kentucky on Friday, February 24 and Army on Saturday, February 25.
    – Last out, Cleveland extended its winning streak to four straight games with a 7-0 win over Bryant and a 6-1 win over Binghamton.
    Maxime Marshall Hay and Raul Teichmann lead the Vikings with 14 singles wins so far this season, while Teichmann and Kady Mendry have a 12-5 doubles team record this year.

    Women’s tennis
    Cleveland State will return to action with two games on the road this weekend, traveling to Buffalo on Friday, February 24 and St. Bonaventure on Saturday, February 25.
    –Last time out, the Vikings dropped a tough contest in Cincinnati, with Cleveland State picking up individual victories in the top three in the lineup.
    So far this season, Tereze Vevere has a career-best 15 singles victories, while Bethany Yauch has 14 on the year.

    lacrosse
    – The Vikings will get the week off from competition, and will return to action with the home opener against Canisius on Saturday, March 4.
    – Last out, Cleveland State fell to No. 2 Notre Dame, their second-biggest opponent in a row on the season-opening fifteen list.
    – Ryan Hay and Whit Stupak led the Vikings attack against the Fighting Irish with two goals each.

    softball
    The Vikings will continue in the early part of their 2023 schedule in Birmingham, Ala. This weekend, to participate in the UAB Blazer Invitational.
    – Cleveland State finished Week 1 of the 2023 campaign with a 1-4 record in the season-opening JU/UNK Invitational.
    – The Vikings earned their first win of the season with a 1-0 decision over Jacksonville at the end of the weekend, with Alexa Sieger’s two-run home run and Melissa Holzopfel clinching the entire game.

    men’s golf
    Cleveland State opens its 2023 Spring Campaign at Wexford Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, South Carolina this week, with events taking place today (Monday, February 20) and Tuesday, February 21.
    – Wexford Intercollegiate is the first of six events for the Vikings this spring, including the Horizon League Championship, which will take place April 23-25.

    Viking Candidates of the Week
    Gina Ding, Softball
    313 in five games at the JU/UNF Invitational, recording five hits and one RBI, while also finishing with a . 929 percentage for the weekend.

    Tristan Enarona, men’s basketball
    He averaged 17.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game over the course of the week, including his fourth double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Wright State.

    Maxim Marshall High, Men’s Tennis
    Going 2-0 in No. 1 singles and 1-0 in No. 3 doubles, he helped the Vikings seal wins over Bryant and Binghamton to extend their winning streak to four straight games.

    Jackson Nester, men’s swimming and diving
    He repeated as Horizon League champion in the 400 IM with a new school record time of 3:48.34.
