A report said plans were being drawn up to tackle antisocial behavior and waste in Bradford ahead of its year as a City of Culture.

The city will host a year-long arts festival in 2025.

The council meeting will hear that police powers can be reviewed to deter crime and licensing arrangements will be streamlined to encourage pubs and food outlets to open in time for the event.

Clean-up will be conducted to ensure that the city is “ready and equipped”.

According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the council meeting will be informed that preparations will include a review of street furniture, with all damaged or “cluttered” furniture removed.

The report said the priority would be to “prevent and deter antisocial behaviour”.

“The remarkable growth in the cultural sector will attract increasing numbers of visitors, particularly in our urban centers – often during the dark evening hours,” the report said.

“Partnership work to assess the physical safety as well as the ‘feeling’ of safety at key sites in our urban centers and other key cultural sites to identify areas that may pose greater risk should be an essential part of the process as we move towards 2025.

“The program should work in conjunction with the local Community Safety Partnership to assess the risks of certain types of crime such as possession offenses, drug trafficking, street drinking, and antisocial behaviour, particularly in locations that may develop with cultural development and those in which re- Development Changing the “look and feel” of the site from what it is now.

Measures could include additional lighting, security cameras, and cutting back vegetation.

Other measures being considered include a review of roadworks and maintenance plans “to ensure that the impact on the appearance of the city centre, main roads and key sites across the region is maximized”.
