    MCAC Winter Sports of the Week: Week of February 13-19

    Rochester, Minnesota –

    the Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) has released its weekly winter sports awards for the week of February 13-19.

    Samantha QuigleyAnd Central Lakes College Ranger, he got it MCAC North Division women’s basketball player. Helping her Raiders capture a share of the MCAC North title in a win over MNC-Mesabi Range in the teams final regular season game, Quigley scored 31 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in just 26 minutes of action. She went 6-of-9 from 3-point range and shot 75% from the field. Lemon donutAnd Northern Minnesota College – Itasca Forward, he got MCAC North Division men’s basketball player prize. Whymns scored 44 points, shot 74% from the floor, and grabbed 30 rebounds in 53 minutes of playing time. His effort helped secure the Vikings’ No. 4 seed in the upcoming District 13 Men’s Basketball Tournament.

    Riverland Community College straight ahead, Rhianna Schmidtthe week is named MCAC Southern Section women’s basketball player. Schmitt shot 60% from the field, hitting 15 of her 25 shots, and scored 46 points. Her defensive effort was very impressive, grabbing 46 rebounds, 14 steals and blocking 7 shots as the Blue Devils notched up three more wins and a No. 3 seed in this week’s District 13 Women’s Basketball Tournament. Cam GivensAnd Rochester Community and Technical College Shooting guard, he made 53% of his shots from the field, scoring 42 points while also grabbing 12 rebounds and 4 steals. His 45% shooting from behind the arc helped secure the Yellowjackets’ MCAC South championship and the No. 1 seed in the District 13 Men’s Basketball Tournament, and earned him the nickname MCAC South Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honor.
