This year’s Daytona 500 may turn out to be wet. There is a slight chance of rain on Sunday afternoon.
The 2.5-mile Daytona International Superspeedway presents a huge challenge for drivers at all times with its bankable speeds and high speeds, and a downpour will only exacerbate that.

The Daytona 2023 Speedweeks races, with the exception of the rain-shortened Friday night Truck Series race, were held in mostly calm conditions and mild temperatures.

This should be the case on Sunday as well. There is a chance of rain, but it shouldn’t stop the racing from happening.

Will it rain at the 2023 Daytona 500?
The forecast is for Sunday’s Daytona 500 weather to be clear. The National Weather Service forecast puts the chance of rain at 20 percent after 1 p.m. ET. Race temperatures are expected to be in the mid 70’s Fahrenheit.

The green flag is due to wave at 3:14 p.m. ET, so an on-time start could be at risk if it rains. But the delay is not likely to be significant, with only a small amount of rain in the forecast, according to WOFL-TV, the Fox affiliate in Orlando.
Sunday night’s forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies and lows in the 50s.
